its ccalled a tank

This is a tank. The water inside is considered holy and many of the itinerant holy men come here to bathe there is a large temple on the other side of this. If you click on the pic to enlarge you will notice that some women are doing their laundry in it. The water is filthy. But this is India. It is not the water that is dirty It is the dirt that is dirty. God help me this makes sense to me. It looks repulsive, but your clothes come out clean and so does the holy men's Karma. That's what i like about India. it breaks all your assumptions about what is clean or dirty or holy or profane. You just have to let go and let things be as they are.

I love this post, great story. I was thinking last time I did laundry how easy we have it now days. My Granny used to have to boil great big kettles of water and sometimes did her laundry in the river. She had her first washing machine hanging on the bathroom wall, it was a wash board.Even after my Father bought her a washer and dryer she would still sometimes use her old crank style washer and then hang everything out on her big porch to dry. I am very thankful for my nice clean laundry room. XO
